Albania as a country that is part of the European continent and the EU membership processes has oriented its political will and efforts for the climate in the spirit of commitments towards the European framework, approximation of legislation and setting standards to contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. For this reason, in 2020 approved the Law 155/2020 “On climate change”, partially aligned with the EU Regulation on the mechanism for monitoring and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and for reporting other information related to climate change.
Albanian legislation in the field of environment is constantly updated with EU directives and regulations.

This project aims to provide an overview of the achievement of objectives for contributing to the reduction of GHG emissions, accelerating adaptation to climate change and whether a comprehensive legal and inter-institutional framework has been established for taking action on climate action at the national level.
